This summer, California University of Pennsylvania will unite with Clarion and Edinboro universities to form Pennsylvania Western University, and students are sharing their perceptions on the consolidation through the exhibit “MERGE,” which opens simultaneously on all three campuses Tuesday.
In the fall, students were asked to channel their thoughts or feelings on the creation of the new university through the medium of their choice. Open to all students regardless of their major, more than 60 works were submitted for “MERGE,” including photographs, poetry and prints. All the art is geared toward confronting the following three questions:
The work will be displayed at Cal U.’s Vulcan Hall, and at Clarion’s Empty Set Gallery and Edinboro’s Bruce Gallery. Students were required to submit three copies of their work so it could be seen on all three campuses.
An opening reception is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday on all three campuses. “MERGE” will be on display through March 1. Hours at Vulcan Hall are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
