WordleBot from the New York Times has figured out the best Wordle starting word – For The Win

We’ve shared a few of the best starting words for Wordle that we’ve found from around the internet … but it turns out one is the best of the best.
Thanks to the New York Times’ new WordleBot, we have an answer.
That’s right, the owners of Wordle have delivered a tool that’s here to help you score your guesses and, as the NYT says, “tell you at each turn what, if anything, you could have done differently β€” if solving Wordles in as few steps as possible is your goal.”
(For what it’s worth, my goal is simply to win, but I know others play for lowest amount of guesses).
The magic word is below, along with people on Twitter rebelling against the bot grading them:
In normal mode — which is what most of us play — the word is … CRANE!
That makes a lot of sense. You combine two common vowels and consonants, which is quite efficient.

AWW! I thought I was really lucky! Now watch that smug wordlebot solve it in two!

Whoever made the @nytimes #WordleBot has no idea about probability. You can't have different optimal starting words every day. An optimal starting word is good under all scenarios, not the best already knowing what the solution is.

#Wordlebot criticizes my first word choice as Luck, but I get my first word from my environment. A commercial for dentistry was on TV at the time. So 100 for Serendipity. @nytimes #Wordle299 3/6*

Luck 66/100

FU again, wordlebot. I kicked your butt.
I tried their starter word yesterday and hated it. Back to my own.

I can't decide if I like the new #Worldle bot or if it sucks the fun out of ithttps://t.co/MMugCf8Efl

It’s safe to say that I now crave the approval of WordleBot more than anyone else in my life.

WordleBot says I was luckier than average. I disagree. To whom do I appeal this decision?
