M25 cooking oil clear-up continues into second night – BBC.com

A cooking oil spillage on the northern part of the M25 motorway has caused disruption for nearly two days.
The Metropolitan Police said officers were called to reports of a lorry crash on the motorway in Enfield, north London, at 11:15 BST on Tuesday.
National Highways said two lanes and entry slip roads were re-opened just before 11:00 on Wednesday.
The clear-up is due to continue overnight as specialist equipment is brought in.
The Met warned motorists to avoid the area.
National Highways said the crash involved a HGV and a van and nobody was injured in the incident.
Duncan Smith, National Highways executive director of operations, said: "Vegetable oil is a very difficult substance to remove from the road surface.
"Anyone who has spilled it onto work surfaces or clothing at home will know just how problematic it can be, so clearing gallons of the substance from one of the busiest roads in the country is no easy task."
